✅ Create an exit strategy that specifies how you’ll deal with common unwind scenarios.
✅ Keep your exit strategy simple, but cover the basics (as applicable): timelines, order of operations, valuation, selection of professionals, distribution of net proceeds, etc.
✅ Get it in writing! Document your exit strategy in your Co-ownership Agreement and execute your agreement. If you need to make a change, make sure you update your documentation properly.
✅ Remember: even the best-laid plans can encounter unexpected challenges. Keep open lines of communication with your co-owners, and be prepared to adjust your strategy as life circumstances change.
